problem installing updates

I cant get any updates to install, I have 10 recommended
updates and none will install no matter.

this is what i see:

No Updates Were Installed

The following items failed to install. To try installing
them again, click Review and install updates, and then
click Install Now again.

327979: Recommended Update

I did check on my cryptographic service and fould a DL to
test it.

I got out of 36 tests 14 failures and the failure numbers
was:

0X80090010 = dined access (10)
0X8010001d = Smart card resource manager is not running.
(4)

can someone help me out here, I am very limited on my
knowledge of programming and bearly kow how to update.

Alternatively, use Windows Catalog and go to Windows XP Pro section and
browse through different links, which you will find manual download for
major updates.

You can try to manually download updates and install it to see what would
happen.

I am doing this now because after rescue my entire system not using Norton
but Windows backup files, I do have some problems now.
