I am posting this here because it may be a registry issue.
I had to repair my Win2k installation - I used the R option after booting up
with the installation CD's. Everything seemed to go fine. I did get 3-4
Windows Installation dialogs which asked for the software installation CD's.
After I provided those all programs were restored - EXCEPT for one which is
giving me a headache. I remember seeing an error dialog box which referred
to a registry value but don't know the details.
The problem is that I cannot install that particular SW. When I insert the
installation CD for the software the InstallShield Wizard comes up, then the
Windows Installer starts but then fails with the message:
"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"
and I can't go any further. Other than this problem the system works fine. I
am wondering whether the registry has some leftover entry which is
preventing the installation. There is no entry in the Add/Remove Programs so
I cannot uninstall it.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
TIA,
-GB
