problem installing printer

I have a new IBM computer with Windos xp. I have samsung
ml-1430 printer. I have installed it to lpt1 port. It
will not print. I have followed the trouble shootin
program and it hasn't been fixed. Any suggestions?
Don't say get a new printer please. Thank you-Urgent !!!
