Hi All,

I am using Win 2000 professional in a LAN. I had no problems
in accessing all the other systems in my LAN. But, recently, I have
added a public IP into my system along with the local IP (Our
local IP range is 10.0.0.0/8). Now things have changed. Now, I
don't have access to many of the other systems in my domain.
That is, the domain is now showing only half of the systems, when
I am looking into the "My Network Places". Could anybody help
me to find out what is wrong with my system....?

I am using Service pack 4 with Win 2000, with Norton antivirus
2003 installed. NetBEUI protocol is also added.

regards
Sijo

What did you add this public IP? Wouldn't it be better to use a 2nd nic for
it?

Marina

Thanks. But, using a second NIC is not feasible in our current
environment. Any other ideas ...?

Do you have a router? How are you connecting to the internet?
You could set the gateway of your nic to the router-IP.

Marina

I don't have any problem in accessing internet.
The problem is with the network places, listing other
machines.

I know that, that's why I wanted to know the answers on my questions.
BTW, got ms03-026 installed?

Marina

Got that installed on every W2K/XP and server? Check all stations for the
msblast.exe-proces in Taskmanager. (I know, I know, just to rule that one
out).

Did you get rid of that public IP yet? Give us a fresh ipconfig/all please
(from the server, and one from a client).
