When I try to import data from an rtf file into excel 2003 rather than
import the dashes and minus signs excel instead puts a box in its place. I
know this is probably a configuration issue with excel but can somebody
point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Hi Jason,
Not sure how you import an .rtf file, would expect you
either copy an paste, or open the file. But you're obviously
past that.

The boxes indicate that the character is not in your
font. Perhaps the font for the cell does not match the
character used. Its a bit more of a problem to change the
font within a cell so if you have multiple fonts for a cell the
conversion might not have done that.

First find out what the characters are using =CODE(A1)
or =CODE(MID(A1,3,1)) more tips in
