Hi,

We have an architecture Active Directory Windows2000, with DNS integrated AD
W2000, and a Server DHCP.
When a computer obtain an address IP by the DHCP, I wanted to know which
time is necessary to register this entries (IP) in the system DNS, to
replace old entry DNS for this computer. I noticed that it is necessary a
certain time to update the system DNS, which causes problems of resolution
during a time.
Is it possible to improve this time of registering of the computer by the
DHCP in the system DNS?

Thanks you.

It should be immediately registered (on boot.)
Same as if the DHCP server registered it.

It might actually be doing that BUT taking time to
replicate to all DNS servers.

Reduce your "Refresh time" on Secondary DNS
servers, or use "Notify" on the Master DNS server(s),
and/or switch to AD Integrated DNS.

DHCP might make the registration a little more
reliable, especially the cleanup but basically it
is the same timing. Now, when the IP is assigned
and applied to the computer in either case.
