I'm trying to create a 3.5" floppy boot disk for WinXP
Pro. I've followed the directions in the KB article that
addresses this issue.

I've copied the NTLDR file from my C:/ drive and when I
boot from it, I get the error message: UNABLE TO FIND
NTLDR

Then I tried copying NTLDR from the WinXP install disc.
Same result.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

There are 2 KB articles that address the issue. They are:
1. Create a Boot Disk for an NTFS or FAT Partition in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q305595

2. Use System Files to Create a Boot Disk to Guard Against Being Unable to Start Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q314079

Remove the mentioned attribute, copy the files, restore the attribute. Check the disk by booting. Worked for me. HTH.

Thanks, Jeff. I was using the info in #1, but hadn't seen
#2. The Hidden Attribute is checked but grayed out for
those files. I removed Read-Only to copy them, then
checked Read Only afterwards to the files on C:/. I left
Read Only and Archive OFF on the floppy. I'm going to try
it again now.
