Problem creating a PPPoA connection

I am using a PCI ADSL (Conexant AccessRunner ADSL) under Vista Beta 2. The
connection details given to me by my ISP specifiy PPPoA so I have installed
the correct drivers for this, with no problems. I can see the System Tray
icon and use the Control Panel applet which both show the adapter has made a
successful connection. However, when I try to create a connection in
Internet Explorer, I only get the option to make a PPPoE connection. When I
try this it does not work. Diagnosing the problem gives a message to the
effect that my Local Network cable is unplugged, which does not apply to
PPPoA.

So the problem is I can get a successful connection to broadband - I just
can't use it under IE.

My questions are:-

1) does Vista support PPPoA, as it is not mentioned anywhere in Help (or in
these forums)?

2) If 1) is not relevant to the problem I am having, is there a way of
making IE 'recognise' the ADSL adapter under Vista?

Although this is a win 2003 document, I think it
is one of those items that applies in general to
most, if not all, versions of Windows.

Further information:

I set up a default connection called 'f2s', but whenever I try to connect
through IE using the 'Always dial my default connection' option, it tries to
connect using a one named 'The Internet'. The dialog that appears has a
drop-down box, but 'The Internet' is the only connection available - my
defulat connection is not even an option.

I reverted to drivers that came with the modem, which places a shortcut to
the proprietary dialer on the desktop. Using this, I was able to get connect
to my ISP. I was then able to open IE and it worked fine.

So, if anyone else is getting this problem, try using any dialer that came
with your modem installation software, rather than relying on the connection
set up in IE.
 
Alga i didnt have a problem using this card under beta 2 and used to connect
to the net frequently with no problems using the default software that
shipped with the CD.

Now my problem is Rc1 wont install the drivers for some strange reason, and
i have 2 unknown devices in my device manager. ( atm , base system device ).

have you managed to get your card to work in rc1 ?

I've since switched to a Wireless ADSL Router which solved all my problems.

I've not been able to download RC1 yet.
