Problem: Com port in use

All of a sudden I can no longer use my modem. I get error message that port
is in use by another device. On hardware manager it shows that port 2 is in
use. How do I find out what is trying to use it and why my modem seems to
have a conflict, although no conflict shows in hardware manager.

You've probably installed some type of software that is using the
com port. PDA gizmos, cell phones and such are the usual
suspects.
