Hi,

I've been setting up remote connections on a number of machines using the
following scenario;

1. Start Registry Editor.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
3. On the Edit menu, click Modify, and then click Decimal.
4. Type the new port number, and then click OK.
5. Quit Registry Editor.

They all work fine except for the machine which will not allow me to change
the portnumber to decimal and my chosen port of 3394. Each time it returns
to Hex with the entry D41 in the field.

Any ideas on this are appreciated.

Thanks

Did you reboot after making the change?

Hi Al,

Yes I did. I have full admin rights on this to make the change as well. I
used the same process on four other machines and had no problem at all. For
some reason this one won't let me change the setting.

Is there any overriding permissions setting that would prevent such a
change? I was trying to use port 3393 to keep a sequence with the other
machines. Is there anything wrong with using this port number? I'm going
to try another number or two this morning to see if they work.

Thanks again.

RDP 6 has an issue with TCP Port 3390 but anything else, AFAIK, should work.
