Hello,

I have been having a problem with capturing video from my Sony DV camera.
When I capture video from it, the video appears "blocky" and in very bad
color quality. I have used the exact same tape, camera, and wire to capture
to a different computer, and it turns out completely fine. I have also used
this same camera and computer to capture video about a year ago and it turned
out fine as well. What could have changed this in that time? Or is there any
way to "repair" my movie maker program if it contains the problem? Thank you
:)

The option to capture as DV isn't available. I don't know if it's b/c I don't
have the proper kind of connection wire or not, but when I captured video
from this camera to this computer a year ago, I didn't have this same
problem, and I used the same equipment. And again, when captured to another
computer, the results were completely fine. I belive the problem lies in my
computer. Is there any way to fix this without the use of the "firewire?"

All other options are compressed and the more compressed it is the blockier
it will look. Choose best quality for playback on my computer when saving
and similar when capturing which should give you a full size PAL/NTSC wmv
video and least compression.

Firewire is the best option.

And not using firewire is why you don't have the option of saving as DV-AVI.
You can only do that with firewire.
I second what Graham said, firewire is definitely the way to go.
