I have created a movie with movie maker. Burn onto CD-RW but it dosen't play
in my DVD player. I think the problem is the file name, MSWMM. How do I
change the file name either in Movie maker or in Nero to be able to then buen
it to a CD-RW for playing in my DVD?

Hello there,

Movie Maker cannot burn to a DVD

Movie Maker can burn to a CD but the CD can only be played on a computer. The
type of DVD player needed is not yet available to the public

The file you have saved is in any case NOT a video file, its the project file.

To create a standalone video click on FILE > SAVE MOVIE FILE and follow the
Save Movie File Wizard. There are two formats you can create. DV-AVI (Use this
to burn back to your DV camera or to import into a DVD authoring program so
that you can create a normal DVD disc or a SVCD or VCD disc that can be played
on just about all domestic DVD players. The other format, which is WMV has a
variety of "flavours" giving you the ability to create a streaming video, such
as those found on my website up to a high quality video suitable for playing on
your computer

When i choose to save movie file, do i save it on my computer, and then can i
open it in Nero to then save onto CD-RW to play on my DVD. Do I need to
change it to MPEG at any point and if so how. Thanks

Hello there,

Yes Exactly, save the DV-AVI file to your hard drive...then run Nero click on
Make SVCD or VCD then when you see the list of options import your previously
saved file, use the other options to make a menu system with chapters and then
tell Nero to BURN the disk.....if you want to fine tune it you can click on the
MORE >>> Button at the bottom of the screen and modify the various options as
required, The most important of those options will be the BIT RATE. If your
video is too big the program will have warned you and its that bit rate number
that you will want to lower.

In addition, when Nero warns you that the file is to large it will ask if you
want IT to do the adjustment for you...answer NO to that question and adjust it
yourself by small increments until the small progress bar fits inside the disk
size you have in the drive...650MB or 700MB. If you let NEro do it it just
drops it down to the next recognised preset standard...that has always been way
to much of a drop for me and I suspect anyone else

The MSWMM file is only a project file.
Open the project and hit CTRL+P to open the save movie wizard.
Use this wizard to save your movie to your hard drive as a DV-AVI file.
If you have the full version of Nero then you have Nero Vision Express which
is the program you need to import your finished movie into so it can create
a DVD for you that will play on a DVD Player.
If you don't have the full version of Nero there is a list of popular DVD
Authoring programs on my website in the DVD Creation section.

You have to first save the project as a dv-avi file - then use your dvd
authoring program to burn it to dvd (unless you have a MCE).
