How do I describe this in words?
I need to create an Excel chart with these characteristics.
There are horizontal bars, centered vertically at zero. One value is
presented to the left, another to the right. They represent paired choices
from a survey. For example, given the option as to whether people might
pay-down debt, vs. purchase a car, about 75% will say they want to pay down
debt, while 25% will say they will purchase a car. So by setting the value
of 75 to a -75, and using horizontal stacked bar chart, I have a bar to the
left of zero showing 75% and a bar to the right showing 25%. It looks great
and shows the comparison needed. The problem is getting the labels correct.
I need the appropriate label on each bar, left of zero and right of zero, and
up and down, for each pair of survey responses.
There should be two options: (1) I could insert a text box on each bar, or,
(2) I should be able to put the labels in a column and have them
automatically. Option 1 is easy, but time-consumng, and option 2 would be
more flexible when I do updates to the chart. I can’t figure out how to do
option 2. Any suggestions?
