My husband has a Dell Laptop running XP - the other day
when logging onto the internet he received a message that
Windows had an update for his computer which he downloaded
and installed. Since that time, the computer crashes
several times a day - he spoke with a Dell service tech
that said it was something to do with the download and
that he will now need to back everything up and reload the
operating system. He can only run the computer in "safe
mode" since this update was installed. Any suggestions??

Same problem with Dell desktop. Before reinstalling the
OS, Go to Start control panel add.remove programs
then uninstall the update. Reboot and see of that works..
If not OS reinstallation might be in your future

He didnt respond to an E-Mail about the Update hopefully. That's bogus and
is a virus. Microsoft doesnt send e-mail
notifications.

Oops - was a Gateway laptop not a Dell - doubt if that
makes a difference but had the wrong computer. Went into
the add.remove area and wasn't sure which files it would
be --- there are a lot of Windows files listed there.
suggestions??
