problem after system restore

had to do a system restore on my XP home edition because of very poor system
performance and i could not discover the reason for it. i was concerned a
major problem was about to arise as it has happened before and i've had to
reinstall my OS. the system resore was successful but i now have a reoccuring
alert window that pops up anywhere from every 30 seconds to every couple of
minutes.the alert states "runner error, runner file name-fspex.exe-lacks"
some sort of 3 line shaped symbol is shown called "a app id seperator" i take
that to mean an application id seperator. i have no idea what that is or how
to repair the file. i can see, at this point, no other option than another
HDD reformat and OS install as i cannot seem to enable another successfull
system restore point. if i undo this restore my concern regarding the system
performance might be as bad as i think it could, programs like my internet
security software and internet explorer where encountering problems and had
to close on a regular basis, and i'd still have no option but to reinstall my
OS. i've tried to find the file with the search application and windows
explorer with no success. luckily i have more than 1 sysem and i am able to
keep the alert window open and tuck it under the task bar so it doesn't keep
opening time after time. i fear though, that this will lead to a larger
problem, and i have no clue as to what a "Runner" is. i would prefer to fix
the file, but i am willing to sacrifice whatever would be deleted along with
the alert window. thanks, and may all our questions be answered

The "runner error" seems to be associated with any program that starts a
process but fails to find the supporting files (this can apply to removed
spyware.) SInce this is a virus program it's likely trying to perform some
task, is somehow misconfigured (probably in the registry) and can't
complete. You should be able to uninstall F-Secure, reboot and not receive
the error. It's possible an update to the program will fix it but if not
you may also need to edit the registy of any reference to it.

fspex.exe is part of F-Secure Anti-Virus 2005. I would uninstall
the
program, reboot and reinstall. Also, look over the following for
troubleshooting a slow computer

i get the same thing, after uninstalling and reinstalling, i still
get the same message after rebooting
