Problem after Repair Install

Since copying over everything from an old hard drive to a new one and,
when XP Home wouldn't start on the new one, doing a repair install
and downloading all the updates (including WMP 10), I've had a problem:
WMP won't start "due to an internal error." Neither will it roll back
in Add/Remove Programs. Reinstalling v.10 didn't do any good and,
mistakenly, I tried reinstalling v.9, which also won't work. Right
now, when I run the cursor over the application file, it says v. 10,
but on starting it wants to install v.9, which I've resisted doing
(again). I tried another repair install from a slipstreamed XP/SP2
disk, but that didn't touch (or automatically reinstalled) WMP10. Is
there any way out of this cycle short of having to do another full
repair install from the original XP disk?

Here are the lines containing "ERROR:" in c:\windows \wmsetup.log:

ERROR: Package 'MPPRE'. Result: 0x800700b7.
ERROR: Package 'DRM10'. Result: 0x800700b7.
ERROR: Package 'codecs10'. Result: 0x800700b7.
ERROR: Package 'wmfsdk10'. Result: 0x800700b7.
ERROR: Package 'WMDMCORE10'. Result: 0x800700b7.
ERROR: Package 'WMP10'. Result: 0x800700b7.
ERROR: Package 'MPCD10'. Result: 0x800700b7.
ERROR: Package 'MPSTUBC10'. Result: 0x800700b7.

Thanks,
Gene

Thanks. Then what? No difference afterwards.

BTW, what should the Default key entry be at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID
\{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58} ?

Thanks. Do you see anything left to do other than an original-CD
repair (or clean reinstall) if the steps in that MS write up don't solve
it?
