First I did an upgrade from 98 to XP that went wrong. Some files were not
compatible and the the computer restarted many times until I pressed F8 and
got into safe mode. From there I did a clean installation of XP and also
choose to use NTFS.

After this XP works but there are still old files and programs left which I
can see if I go to “my computer†–“explore†and look under “C:â€

If I open Photoshop it says “you have Photoshop in primary Scratch and
Windows primary paging file on the same volume†and that I should change that.

If I go to the Control panel “add and remove program†Photoshop is not there!
Most greatful if someone can help me!

You did not do a clean install. You did an upgrade install. A clean
install means that you delete the partition, create a new partition,
format the drive, and install Windows. You can't do this from within
Windows - boot with the XP cd. Afterwards, install hardware drivers and
programs from installation media, restore data from backups.

Thank you Malke for your answer! I tried at first to boot from the CD-rom but
it seems like my compurter wants to boot from the floopy diskett drive. Read
in the link you sent me that one way to fix this is to download 6 disketts
and that will make the CD-rom active for booting. Is that the best way?
Thks aging

No. You need to change the boot order of your computer by going into the
BIOS. Make the CD drive first, hard drive second.

Thany you again Malke for answering!
I changed my CD-ROM to first and the hard drive to second in the BIOS and
started up with the XP CD in the CD-ROM but the computer starts up with
Windows just like normal, not installing XP.

Either you did something wrong in the BIOS, you're not using a real XP
CD that is bootable, or you are missing the prompt that says "Press any
key to boot from CD-ROM". The prompt comes very quickly on new, fast
computers so watch for it.
