Problem after fdisk with formatting hard drive

I have a customer who whacked her Gateway ME computer by trying to
install programs from another computer's recovery disks. She fried
the partitions, apparently. I've already fdisked the drive and am
trying to
format it. On my first try, I got to a place where the message was
that it was trying to recover some allocation units. Seemed to just
stop at that point.

Any suggestions? Is there an English ME newsgroup? I haven't found
one so far.

The first thing I'd do is to head to the drive manufacturer's site and
get a low-level format utility, and see if that can restore the drive
back to original configuration... Hope that helps!
