Hello,
I am not able to add one of my website to my list of Network Places so I can
edit it live. I have 5 other websites that I have added and have no problem
with.

FrontPage extensions are installed for this site.

It prompts me for the password but will not accept it. It prompts over and
over again, then finally gives this message:
You do not have permission to access this Network Place location.

I know the password is correct because it is what I use to access it with FTP.

I had this problem with another site, but can't remember what I did to get
it working.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you.

Normally, the FTP password and the HTTP password for use with extensions are
completely different.

You need to contact your host and find out the proper credentials.

Thanks. But I am the host, and I set up the passwords to be the
same.......as I have on all my sites.....

What happen when you open the site in IE, then File Menu | Edit with FP?

It prompts me for the password (and user name) - same - over and over - but
will not accept my password. If I cancel prompt, then it opens page in FP.

Have you run a server health check from within IIS / Server Extensions Admin and let if correct the
permissions?

Open IIS MMC, then select the web site, then Right Click and Select All tasks, then select Check
Extensions

Well this is weird.... It shows no connections or sites and it won't let me
connect.

I have never used this and I am able to connect with several other sites and
they don't show here.

I use Windows 2000. I know nothing about how to use IIS. Why do I need it?

Thank you for your help.

IIS is the Windows Web Server and you would access the sites on it via http.

How do you currently access your sites?

3 other sites I have, I open FP and File Open Network Places and click on the
site name. Enter user name and password and I am in.

This one I have not been able to do that. So I have been editing locally
and then uploading via FTP.

I am now remembering that when this site was hosted somewhere else, at some
point the pass word quit working and they told me to start using webmaster as
pw. When they did this, it caused some pages to get lost or messed up. I
had to rebuild a bunch of pages.

But they are no longer hosting it. When I set up the hosting, I enabled the
FP server extensions. Should I have set a different password for FTP access
than from password to use in FP Network Locations? If so, how do I do that?

Thank you

Thank you for trying to help me. I got it working finally after chasing this
all day.

I went in to my WebHost Manager and "changed" the password to exactly the
same password and now I got it working................. Go figure!

Glad to see you have the issue resolved!
