I have the Admin Pack installed on my XP workstation so I can administer DNS
and DHCP from my desktop as opposed to logging onto the DC to perform
maintenance tasks. Our DC's are currently Windows 2000 but we installed two
new Windows 2003 DC's in out two test domains this week. I can
add/change/delete DNS records in the zones defined on these two DC's but
oddly I cannot access the DNS event logs on either of these machines. I
still have the old Windows 2000 DC's up and running and I can access the
event logs on these two machines which are in the same two domains. Not
sure what the issue is but it's telling me that I can't view the logs
because "permission denied". The only thing I can figure is that it's some
Window 2003 vs. Windows 2000 issue but I have no idea what to do to correct
the problem. Has anyone seen similar behavior and fixed it?
