Hey,
can someone help me? I 've made a network, using a
router. Both PC's can see each other, but when the PC
Win98 tries to access the PC XP, a network password will
be asked. This password is NOT the password I normally
use to log in on mine PC.

Can anyone help me, please?!
Thanks

AJ

When you are on the Win98 PC and trying to access a drive
on the XP computer, the password is either the XP password
or a password that has been selected as necessary to
access that drive as was setup on the XP machine when
sharing was enabled. When you chose to share this drive on
the XP computer, did you click the choice to make it
password protected? If so, you entered a password in this
screen and this is the password the access dialog box is
looking for.

Is it asking for the IPC$ password? If so, all that's usually needed
to fix the problem is to run the Network Setup Wizard on the XP PC, as
shown here:

XP ICS - Starting the Network Setup Wizard

If you've explicitly defined a password for the Guest account on XP,
enter that password at the prompt.

If you have XP Professional and have explicitly disabled "simple file
sharing", see this web page:

In Windows XP, it isn't possible to associate a password with a shared
drive.
