Hi All,

I do all the work on the network driver, says L:. For example, I have a
excel file on the L driver, named XXX.xls. One field in the file is refer to
a field in another file on the L driver in following path:
L:\aaa\bbb\ccc.xls. But do not know when i find that this field in XXX.xls
refer to a local file : C:\documents and setting\username\application
data\microsoft\excel\xlstart\aaa\bbb\ccc.xls.

Anybody who knows that problem, could help me. Thanks so much in advance!!!!

Thanks a lot.

One way to handle this (if it's possible) is to have all of your related
files in the *same* directory. Then you use just the filename to refer
to the file in your formulas, and Excel will fill in the path with info
it gets from the OS.

This way, you can copy the entire folder if you want to work on a local
version, or take work home with you (Yuk!!). It will work as expected
in each location (even on different computers) without changing anything.

From your post, I would guess that you have a combination of absolute
references throughout your sheet and data is coming in from two
different files. Or you may be getting #REF errors on systems that do
not have a local version of the file. If you want, you can use find &
replace to fix all of the formulas for each path at once.

--> Always test on *copies* of the files first!
