Probing the active directory

Hey guys

Are there any tools out there that give you the ability to probe AD. By
probing I mean, gathering performance statistics, assessing the overall
directory tree security, etc.

The Exchange best practice analyser also does a pretty good job of this.

The Server performance monitor is a good bet (see Chris' link).
