Hey,

I have a slight problem with my pc that has been happening for quite some
time, and its starting
to drive me crazy! What it is, is that when i play mp3's or videos on my pc,
it plays them at a
speed of about 2sec/sec. But what is weird is that it doesnt do it on
windows xp, or even in
Winamp2, but it does in everything e.g. Winamp3, Kazaa Theater, DivX Player
etc..

Can any1 suggest anything, as ive tried downloading sound and video codecs,
but they did not
succeed.

Try running DXSETUP (if you've got directX installed, you have this),
and going to the sound tab. On there, you have an acceleration
slider. If it's set to any more than minimum, throttle it down. In
some systems, you may need to turn it off altogether, but this isn't
recommended, as there is a noticeable performance hit in some games.

It can also happen if you installed a codec pack and installed
EVERYTHING in the pack. There are warnings in the instructions to the
effect that some of the codecs will conflict with each other, and that
you should only install what you actually need.

There are other possibilities as well, but that's all I can think of
on short notice.
