Chris

I just purchased a Hercules Game Fortissmo 3 and I am having some problems.
When the found new hardware wizard comes up I click next and so on and it
cant find the drivers for the Unknown Multimedia Audio Device.... i have
inserted the cd and it has scanned it but it still cant find the drivers. So
i installed the drivers manually off the cd with no luck.... still unknown
multimedia audio device. I even tried the latest drivers off of the website
with no luck. I am runnign windows XP pro on an asus p4s 800 mobo. any help
on getting the sound card to work would be greatly appreciated :)

Chris, I've never used a Hercules card, but with most modern video and sound
cards (and most other cards, come to that) you don't use Windows' hardware
install routines. You cancel out of any installation wizards that come up
after you physically install the card, boot into Windows without it
installed (or, in the case of videocards, with the Windows standard driver
only), then run the setup .exe on the CD (it'll usually autoboot when you
insert it) and follow the prompts for installation. It's often best to make
sure you've closed down all running processes before doing this, as well.
