uninstalled AOL and and IE stopped working: kept
saying "This page cannot be displayed" for all websites.

I have Win98 2nd ed. running on a HP.

I'm guessing that AOL didn't uninstall correctly. If
anyone had this problem before and/or knows how to fix it,
please give me a pretty detailed set of instructions on
how to fix this problem.

Would really appreciate it if anyone is willing to help
out.

Thanks!!

PS. pinging works but web doesn't

First check your connection and LAN settings in Internet
Explorer. Everything in LAN settings should be blank. If
you use broadband (DSL, Cable) the connections will
PROBABLY be empty also. If you use dial up, your
connection should be in the connections box. Make sure it
is set as the default and choose the bullet for "Dial
whenever a network connection is not present".

Next, check your TCP/IP settings in the Control Panel.
Make sure everything is set to automatic for your internet
connection. Example - Obtain IP Address automatically. -
Unless you got different instructions from your ISP.

Good luck

P.S.
The ONLY thing that helped my Internet Explorer was to stop
using it!!! http://www.netscape.com/ns/browsers/download.jsp
