Not using an exchange server ... just popping SMTP mail off an email account.
I have about 30 contacts created an many of them are used when entering an
email address in the to: field .. but MANY are not. Can't figure out why
some are used and some are not.

Also, When I click the address book ... none is listed. How do I make my
contacts, my address book as well?

The autocomplete cache only contains entries for addresses you've already
used.

Is your Contacts folder flagged as an email address book? Check the "Show
this folder as an address book" box here: Right click on the Contacts
folder, choose Properties, go to the Outlook Address Book tab

I don't see the Contacts folder in the navigation pane. there is a tab at
the bottom. when I try to go to properties when I have the contacts open...
I can't change the click box to make it "Show this folder as an address
book". It is greyed out

What version of Outlook are you using? You may need to add the Outlook
Address Book service to your profile but the way to add it varies by version

Then you have to add the Outlook Address Book service to your mail profile.
Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Add a new directory or address book>Next.
Select Additional Address Books and click Next. Select the Outlook Address
Book, click Next, then Finish. Stop and restart Outlook. That grayed-out
box should now be available.

GOT IT ... THANKS!!!
