My machine has Windows XP Home SP2 with all the updates. It was running
fine. However, for a few last days, when I boot it, instead of normal
opening, I'm getting a screen with two options - Win XP Home or
Professional. I have no Win XP Pro installed! What happened? How may I get
my machine back to a normal startup of WinXP Home? Thanks for your
suggestions.

Edit the BOOT.INI...

That option did *not* appear randomly. Somehow it was put there. Either by
an installation or by manually editing the BOOT.INI. I suggest finding out
how.

Does the machine boot into EITHER OS?

(Google for "edit boot.ini in Windows XP" for more details.)

Right Click on my computer >> Properties >> Advance >> Startup and RecoveryXP Home and give 1 assecond Time to display list of operating system

But do check who edited your boot.ini file.

Thanks all for your suggestions. But the strange thing happened this
morning: the Win XP Home started as usual with no problem. Nevertheless, I
opened boot.ini and sure enough, the Pro was sitting on the last line...
Deleted it and hope it will never pop up again.
Thanks again for your help.
