I run winxp pro on a computer with 6 other people, many
of whom are very nosey. I am the administrator, and when
i try to make things such as folders private only to
myself or to others, the "Make this Folder Private"
option under the sharing tab in properties of a folder
are always greyed out.

Thanks Kevin

What file system is in use, FAT32 or NTFS?

I have 2 drives, the first is c: 4 gig which is fat32 and
the second is 80gig ntfs

I see you found out how to determine your file system. Great!

The ability to make folders private is a feature of NTFS. It will not be an
option for folders residing on a FAT32 partition. There is a utility built
in to XP that allows you to convert FAT32 to NTFS. If you're interested in
this, there is more information in Help and Support. Also should take a
look at this article:

Converting FAT32 to NTFS

Hope this helps,
