SETUP:
- I have a Win 2000 server AD with 2 Network adapters.
- I'm running DNS server on the same server.
- The AD Domain name is say, wind2000.com.
- One adapter is for public access the other adapter is connected to an
internal server via cross over cable.

PROBLEM:
- In the forward lookup zone of the DNS, i have the domain wind2000.com
where all the IPs of both the adapters are listed as "same as parent".
Even I tried to delete the entry, it gets updated again after a while.
The NIC binding order is public and then private.

When I do a lookup for that domain I get private and public ips.
When I do ping wind2000.com it resolves and gets the private IP and
tries to ping that unrechable adapter.

Question:

How can I permanently delist the private IPs from the forward lookup
zone ?

Please Help.

Regards.

In case someone replies do KB 246804. I tried it and I am currently
having the same problem.

Windows 2000 sp4 -- I added the DisableDynamicUpdate key. If I reboot
or do a re-load, my heartbeat NIC and my backup network NIC get added
to DNS. I don't want those in there.

I hope someone out there has some suggestions!

Found it!

Ran this:

Dnscmd 10.4.1.11 /ResetListenAddresses 10.4.1.11

Now it doesn't pick up the heartbeat (10.10.1.0) or backup IP network
(172....) addresses!
