Ben

have a previous post a few messages ago.
I'm still working on getting my hard drive from FAT32 to
NTFS so I can make some of my folders private to other
users.
Through the command prompt...i'm typing "convert
C:/fs:ntfs"...this is what my 'Help' prgrm is telling me
to do.
I keep getting:
"The type of file system is FAT32
Enter current volume label for drive C:"

Leaving it blank doesn't work, I've tried
typing 'C:'...'C'...'F'(different drive name other than
A,C,D or E......'y'(for yes)...numbers etc., and i keep
getting the same msg:
"An incorrect volume label was entered for this drive"

I'm on xp home edition and a fairly new pc.

I would be very grateful for any more ideas.
Thanx

Well Mr. Candy....I've looked for your name in here for
the past 24hrs....and the only post other than here was

I answered you an hour before you posted this.

It's the last post to private folders thread you started.

Here it is copied (if you accessed the groups correctly you'd see it - news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize)

Look at the drive in My Computer. It has it's volume name next to the drive letter label. If the volume label is blank the text is Local Drive (or CDrom or whatever the type is) else it's the volume label..

Hopefully you're still around JJ.....
I did leave it blank....hit 'enter'....and the msg "an
incorrect volume label was entered for this drive"
I also went to the recommended site....and the prompts
shown there never came on my screen either.

Any more ideas??
