llHad a CRASH, don't ask how, had to re-install XP, but I had a FOLDER set as
PRIVATE, and I'd like to get it back. What is the secret? Look in KNOWLEDGE
BASE, and found the piece on simple shares, but I don't appear to have that
ADVANCED option in folder view. Is this the ONLY way to take ownership of a
private folder?

If you don't have the option in folder view, it is because you either
have XP Pro and Simple Sharing enabled or you have XP Home and you will
need to go into Safe Mode. See:

a. The drive must be NTFS
b. For XP Pro, in Folder Options>View uncheck 'Use Simple File Sharing'.
That is the level used in Home, and for some strange reason is on by
default in Pro, too.

How Do I Get the Security tab in Folder Properties? -

Then take ownership of the files.
