Private Documents Folder

Recently whilst I was on holiday our computer was infected by a virus (we think) and my dad reinstalled Windows and everything else, and copied my "My Documents" folder onto the C drive so that I could move it back to my profile once he'd reinstalled windows.

Only problem was that I'd made the folder private so that it could only be viewed from my user account and my dad effectively set up a new account and deleted my old one. My old "My Documents" folder is still there but it's impossible to access it at the moment.

Can anyone help?

Hi Lary,

if you didn't use encryption on your folders then you only have to take
ownership of the folder. Follow instruction in this Microsoft article:

How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308421&Product=winxp

I hope this helps,

Mike
