Privacy-restricting cookie sites doesn't work

In the Privacy settings, there is a place under Sites where you allegedly can
type in a website and it should block cookies from there. Most of the ad web
addresses now have an extra dot in them, example: adsvr.adknowledge.com. If
I put this in, in the list it puts it as "adknowledge.com" and leaves out the
dot and doesn't block it at all. Why can't I block ad cookies? Or how can I?

A better solution may be to set the general setting to at least medium high
and then add the sites that you do not want to restrict cookies from. You
also may want to try Spyware Blaster as a preventative measure to block
cookies from "bad" websites. --- Steve
