I was recently disturbed to find out that im being
watched and there's nothing i can do about it. I have
heard disturbing things about how every single site i've
been on is being recorded in your files and I can't
delete them! for the very least I am very angry that I
can't even access my own computer files!!!! your stupid
encryption service does not allow me to even delete my
own file index.dat. The fact that I can't delete and i
should be able to since I bought it really makes me
mad!!! I consider this a privacy invasion. though your
company claims these files are for other reasons im not
that stupid. there should be a law against this if there
already isn't. I should be able to access my own files!!!
fix this!!!

Please take your medication and stop reading the tabloids.
You are having delusions as what you "recently found out" is a
fantasy. No one is watching you. No one cares.
No please pack your computer back in the box it
came in and return it to the place of purchase.

No one from Microsoft auctually comes into these newsgroups.
Microsoft simply runs the servers.
We are simply a bunch of independant people who help each other with
Microsoft products.

Your index.dat file cannot be deleted because it is a file used by windows
so it knows what cookies you have on your computer and so internet explorer
can use them.

You are not being watched. This may come as a surprise to you but no one
cares what you do.

The windows encryption service is what is protecting your data as it is
being sent across the internet so OTHERS cannot get at it. It also secures
your data into compressed folders and stops people who have physical access
to your computer or other users from accessing your private data.

Why are you angry that you cant delete a bunch of files. If you purchased
your computer with windows xp on it then it would most definitly have
pleanty of space, 20 GB or more. a small 5kb index.dat file is not going to
use up any space compared to that.

I think you saw that banner advert that looks like a window thats floating
around the net in the form of popup adverts in IE. It flashes a warning
saying your being hacked or your un secure etc. You were just stupid enough
to click on it then believe what they say. lol.

Next time you try to accuse anyone, find out the facts. You appear to be a
computer illeterate if you 'recently read' and did not correctly understand
what it was saying.

Show me your source and I may form a higher opinion.

Relax. As the others have pointed out, MS has no intention of spying on
what you do. They don't care what sites you visit. You can't delete the
file because it is in use by Windows, not because of any encryption
service. If you want to delete the index.dat file in your history folder
simply log on to the computer with another account that has administrative
priveleges. From there you can delete the entire contents, including
index.dat, of the history folder in your profile's directory.
