I read and applied the suggestions in Bruce Sanderson's article at
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/NetPrinterAllUsers.htm regarding making a
network printer globally available to all users on a single XP PC. The
printer now appears in the Printers and Faxes folder of each user on the PC,
but two of the five users get the message "Access Denied, Unable to Connect"
and cannot access the printer. All the users on the PC are administrators
and have identical privileges as far as I can tell!

Your suggestions are appreciated.

If the user can still print what you are seeing is the spooler on the
"server" unable to authenticate with the spooler on the client.

The spooler service on the "server" updates information to the spooler
service on the "clients". When one opens the Printer on the client, the
server communicates to the client and will display any jobs in the queue
window. If there is a permission issue the client sees the access denied
message.

here's the KB article regarding how this can occur.

I tried printing from one of the users that show "Unable to Connect, Access
Denied" for the status of the network printer. The print job failed telling
me that the printer was not connected properly and to check the setup.

As I mentioned eariler, three of the five users on this PC (XP Pro) can use
the printer without any problems. They are all Administrators on the PC and
I have not modified their profiles at all.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks for your help.
