of cmd prompt window [of course text moded], either windowed or fullscreened
[the way like win98 shift-printscreen worked]

Doesn't Shift+PrintScreen capture the full screen to the clipboard on
your XP system? It does here, just as Alt+PrintScreen captures the
active window.

Alternatively, you can use the Edit functions in the console's System
Menu; they allow Mark, Select All, Copy, and others. The advantage of
these is that they allow copying/pasting of console content as text,
whereas PrintScreen only gives you a bitmap.

thanks [clay & michael], problem is a *hardcopy*, win98 makes printer
printing hardcopy immidiately after pressing shift-printscreeen.
i know select, copy, paste to notepad, select monospace font, print but it
is very complicated compared to simple key hit [shift-printscreen].
i may try to find [or create] some 3rd party tool, but was interested on
win-xp's *built-in* solutions

All MSDos programs on all windows copy to clipboard unless you tell it the dos program should get the print screen key. You do that in the properties - JUST LIKE ON 98.

highlight the text you want to copy by clicking your mouse left button and
dragging over the text, hit enter,
now paste the results into annother document like notepad or WORD.
