Printscreen broken!

I just reinstalled my system from the recovery disks supplied by the
manufacturer. I needed to do a printscreen so I could get a rebate from
Symantec. I did the printscreen as well as the alternate printscreen, and
when I went to Paint, there was nothing to paste. I can copy and paste text
just fine, but the printscreen button on the keyboard does not put anything
into the paste buffer.

Anyone have any ideas?

try Alt + PrintScreen

Or, a third-party utility. SnagIt: Screen Capture - Edit - Share:

Right click> Paste doesn't work in Paint. Try Edit> Paste instead.

The "paste buffer" is clipbrd.exe. Do either PrtScr or
AltPrtScr, then in Run, type .. clipbrd .. and see if the
scr action shows in the clipboard. If it is shown in the
clipboard, open Paint and do a Cntl V from the keyboard.

Or try a shareware program called "5 clicks". I have used it for some time,
and am pleased with it. It actually allows you to select portions of the
screen, as well as the whole screen.

I tried the <ctl>V and nothing happened. I am thinking there may be a
registry problem. The tech who restored my PC ran regedit, but now he
doesn't remember doing it. If there is anyone who is a registry expert out
there, I would appreciate a response.

NEVER MIND! There was a program called key maestro installed and when the
key maestro button is pushed, print screen and F3 in Regedit are broken.

Nice -- the vendor didn't even know!
