Printmig restores overwrite existing printers by default

Hello,
After having had constant problems with our print server (non windows) in
the past, we moved to local TcpIP printer connections for the whole company
(no more queue problems, etc). We are using printmig3 to deploy printers on
the computers.
However, it seems to overwrite printers if the same driver is used for
several ones.
i mean, if i have a hp 4000 installed and i want to add a second tcpip
printer port with the same driver, the former printer will not appear
anymore. the printer port is still there, but not linked to any printer, and
the new printer is ok.
Can someone confirm this is the 'default' behaviour ? I know printmig is
usually to be used for print server migration, but its functionality was very
appreciated in this case.
Thanks in advance

Bruno

name the printers something other than the driver name. Printmig will
overwrite the new printer information on printers with the same name.

This works great for me since I maintain a server that mirrors the deployed
servers on campus here. Since old printers are replaced with new devices my
shares stop printing due to the old device no longer on the network. Then I
just backup the real server and restore the new config to my server. Since
the printer and share names remain the same, the port and driver infomation
gets updated and my print shares work again.

Hi,
just found out. As i didn't rename the printers (just added a comment for
each one [so Citrix would find it correctly] the printer got updated with the
new port, same name obviously.
