How do I add slide numbers to a print job without adding them to the slides
themselves? I want to print a handout view of my presentation and would like
the slides to be numbered so I don't have to go back and write them in after
printing but I don't want the slide numbers on the slides themselves.

Have you tried setting the page number font color to equal the
background color (on the slide master)? They should appear on the
printout, but not show on the slide (even though they are there).
That is, as long as you don't specify to include the backgrounds in
the printout.

Hi Cameron

You can add a page number field to the handout master. How you do this
depends on your version.

Cameron,

View menu > masters > notes handout master

insert a text box

then
insert > slide number

it should be displayed as <#>

When you print your handouts this <#> will be replaced by the handout page
number
