I have an HP Photosmart 1215 printer and all of a sudden it won't print
text,I've had HP tech support try and help me but after several trial and
error things they have decided it is my ink cartridges but I know they are
fine. When I print anything with text (if it prints at all) the lettering in
very very pale blue and appears to be encrypted,if there is a hyperlink or
emblem of some kind on the page I print they will print fine.I would go buy a
printer if this one has seen it's last day but if it isn't a new one probably
will do thing same thing, this printer get use little probably hasn't had more
than 2-3 rims of paper thru it.I've reloaded the software more than
once, installed the software from the website, checked the port and other
settings etc.I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw when comes to this stuff
so if anyone could help,it would be great.

If you *know* that the problem isn't what HP tech support says it is,
then it's doubtful that you can get any useful help here.

If you're willing to suspend that belief, however, try printing a test
page from the printer's front panel:

To print a test page:
1. Make sure plain paper is loaded in the paper tray. If you need more
information, see “Loading paper” on page 11.
2. On the printer front panel, press Tools until the LCD
asks if you want to print a test page, then press
OK/Yes.
The printer begins printing a test page.

If the test page prints correctly, then you can come back and explain
what software application you're using when you see the bad printing. If
the test page does not print correctly, then either your print
cartridges are bad, the printer itself is bad, or both.

It sure sounds like the black print cartridge is empty. The light blue
is the underprinting normally done to make the text sharper and dry
faster. Check the ink levels - open the lid and look at the small ink
level indicator. If it is black the cartridge is empty, green indicates
ink.
