I have been having a printing problem with one of my 8 networked computers.
When we print a document from any program we can select the tray on the
printer to send the document to, but it always prints out of the 3rd tray. I
have unistalled and then reintalled the printer via HP's website so we have
the most up to date drivers and software and that worked for two days. Then
it went back to only printing from tray 3. All the other computers networked
to this printer have no problems at all. Every computer has Windows XP. Does
anybody have any ideas on how to check this?
 
On the client machines, what are the dates for the GPD and BUD files for the
printer. I'm wondering if the BUD files are not getting generated after the
driver update.

There is one BUD file that is current 1/26/09 the date I installed the
software however the newest GPD file is from sometime in 2007. Just so we are
clear these files are on the computer that is accessing the printer that is
installed on one of my networked computers. Which files need to be current
and how do I get them there?
 
the BUD file is a compiled version of the GPD file. The BUD file would be
created during the driver install or if the driver is ever updated.

I do not know why the pick tray is not getting properly selected. Since you
stated all applications I assume you do not just mean MS Office
applications. I would definitely attempt this using notepad. If the pick
tray setting works for notepad, then it may be an issue with the application
translation to which tray is selected.
