As of lately, when I try to print something from my WinXP PC, which is
directly attached to an Epson Sylus 740i printer, it won't print. There
are no errors, and the print job is listed in the que, but nothing ever
happens. I had this happen before and I had to uninstall and reinstall
the printer and then it worked. I don't want to have to do this every
time I want to print. Is there any way to make it work without
uninstalling and reinstalling the printer every time?

Hi,

It is possible that you may be loading the printer twice and the wrong
printer gets selected as the default which throws up a non-printing flag
when you go to print. Go to the Printer folder and note if there is an Epson
740 there. If it is right click it and set it as the default in the
properties box. Try printing at this point. If you have a second 740 printer
icon then delete it.

Good luck,

Check that "Use Printer Offline" is not checked. Control Panel/Printers right
click on the printer.
This seems to happen for no apparent reason from time to time.

First, uninstall the EPSON 740 driver, then go the the
Windows\System32\ folder and delete all files that begin with eps.
These are EPSON driver files. I don't remember the exact file names
that are left behind from a previous installation, but I think one of
them is epsusb.dll.
For some reason these files do not get deleted when you uninstall the
printer driver.
Then reinstall the driver and it should work.
