Hi,

I have created a Powerpoint presentation and added a .jpg
picture as the background and applied it to all slides.
When I print or print preview, it only shows the text that
I added to the slide, it doesn't print or show the
background. Is this turned off somewhere that needs to be
turned on, or is that not the proper way to create a
background. Any advice?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

If you've added the image using "format > background > fill effects > picture"...that's why it will not print.

You need to
view > master > slide master
Insert > picture from file > size it...then draw > send to back

How did you add the jpg to the background? Is it just the image on the slide
master, or is it inserted as format/background/fill effect/picture?

I did add it the way mentioned in both posts (format >
background > fill effects > picture). I will try it as
suggested and if it still doesn't work, I will reply
back. Thanks for the advice!

OK, for whatever reason, that didn't work. It still
shows up with only text when I try to print. Not sure
what I might be doing wrong. Could I somehow do this?
What I am trying to do is take an existing presentation
(background with text on 108 slides) and create the 108
slides on a new background. Can I create a new master as
described below and then "copy" the slides from the one
presentation to the other without the background. That
will also get me where I am trying to go. Thanks again
for any help!

Well, I think I figured out how to do it. I searched on
the help (how novel an idea) and found how to copy slides
between presentations, and created a new master slide
with the picture in the background as described below,
copied the slides, and it all looks good. One more
question if anyone reads this far. Of the slides, the
colors of the text are something I would like to change.
Is there a way to change the font colors of text on one
slide, and apply that change to all slides in the
presentation?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Often if your background is inserted that way, you can print greyscale (as
opposed to pure black and white) to see the background.

Go to your slide master. View/Master
Then go to B/W View (View/Black and White)
Then right-click your background picture (which may show up just as white
when you're in B/W View) and select Black and White Settings.
Choose Automatic or one of the other options there.

That should print your background.

Yes, that should also work.

It depends on how the color for the font was set in the first place. If you
used the slide color scheme colors for the font color, then yes, it can
easily be changed at once. If not, then it will have to be done manually.
(Or with VBA if you want to go that far, but I don't think that would be a
simple thing to code.)

See http://www.echosvoice.com/colorschemes.htm for more info on how color
schemes work.
