Hello,
I think I figured out the problem. In the NTPRINT.INF
file, I included a printer driver version # as stated in
my first post. When I received this computer in
question, it already had the 722C installed, and the
driver must have been HP's instead of the WinME driver.
The HP driver was uninstalled, the WinME driver
installed, and the NTPRINT.INF file updated to reflect
the new printer driver name (simply HP Deskjet 722C
Series), and it worked. Now all I have to do is figure
out how to get printer settings to be saved....
This user has a 56k connection and connects to a SQL
database where they print things from. It's slow as is,
and I am having to always go into the printer properties
and changing the print quality to draft. After I log out
and log back in, the print quality defaults back
to "normal" and I have to manually change it back to
draft at the printer dialog box.
Thanks,
Shawn

Are there any events in the eventlog about this?
Can the client print to their own local printer (when they
aren't in terminal services)?

Hello,
Are there some printers that just won't work? Or,
perhaps I'm missing something?
I'm having troubles getting a Windows ME client to print
locally to an HP722C printer. This is an old but trusty
style printer. This client is connecting to a Windows
2000 terminal server, and the client is runnind the
latest RDP client that is also used on the XP operating
systems.
I've gone so far as to install the 722C drivers on the
client and server, and modified the NTPRINT.INF file, but
I just haven't had any luck. I've read an article or two
on how to perform printer redirection but something is
still wrong somewhere. When the client connects, the
722C is not even shown in the list of available
printers. In Active Directory on the domain controller,
the check box to connect to local drives and connect to
local printers is checked.
If I remember right, WinME does not have a built in
Windows driver for this printer, but 2000 does. The HP
printer driver is installed on the client, and the
Windows driver is on the server. The names aren't
exactly the same at the printer driver name in the
printer control panel.
Here's what I've added in the NTPRINT.INF file under the
[Previous Names] section:
"HP Deskjet 722C Version 5.0.2183.1" = "HP Deskjet
720C Series"
and I've also added the flip-flopped version of that
becuase I wasn't sure if I entered that the right way or
not:
"HP Deskjet 720C Series" = "HP Deskjet 722C Version
5.0.2183.1"
I've also modified a couple registry settings that I read
about, to create an alternate .inf file for these special
case Terminal Services printers that had to be manually
added.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
