Now you will have two "Printer Ports", one for each Parallel Port on the
Intel NetportExpress. Use the Add Printer wizard to add the printers. On
the "Select a Printer Port" page, select teh "Use the following port:" radio
button and select whichever port on the NetportExpress that particular
printer is connected to.
By way of explanation:
The Standard TCP/IP Port supports two protocols: "RAW" (sometimes called the
Port 9100 protocol) or "LPR". The default is "RAW". There is no way with
this protocol to differentiate between "ports" or "printers" on the
destination device (IP address), so you can only use this to print to one
printer at each IP address. The LPR protocol has the concept of destination
"Print Queue" and you can have an essentially unlimited number of "ports" or
"printers" at a given IP address. When you select the "Intel
NetportExpress" at step 9 or 17, the Add Port Wizard finds out that this
device has multiple ports and switches the protocol from default of "RAW"
to "LPR".
You can see this in the port's "configuration". (Printers and Faxes, File,
Server Properties, Ports tab, select the port, click Configure).
