printing troubles through network

I have a laptop with xp home and a desktop with xp home
with a printer attatched to desktop. Internet connection
through a linksys router. I am having trouble connecting
the 2 computers . I want to print from the laptop to the
printer connected on desktop.

any suggestions?
 
Are the two machines in the same workgroup?. Can the laptop see file shares
on the desktop?

yes there are both in the same workgroup
