Can anyone recommend an affordable print tracking software for a small
company to track approx 15 employees?

Has anyone used this genre software and what is your experiences with it?
Worth while?

Thanks

You can try Print Logger (WE or SE)

The Print Logger software is intended for a print management (print control
and audit printing activity) for printers at workstation. The program
inspects the print jobs on a computer, where software is installed. Main
assignment of the program - collection of the information about sizes(in
pages and kilobytes) of local print jobs and record it to the database for
the subsequent analysis or creation reports about printing activity.

If you need similar software for NT 4 Server, Windows 2000 Server or
Windows 2003 Server - you can use HSLAB Print Logger
SE.(http://www.printlogger.com/products/plse/index.html)
Also you can see differences between SE and WE versions
here(http://www.printlogger.com/products/versions.html).

Oleg,

Thanks for your response. Since my posting I have tryed a few of the print
tracker trials, but will not work for what I need it for.

Here's the scenario:

A small real estate office with about 15 agents. In the "map room" is a pc
with a printer. The pc is for general use, for use by assistants or temp
help, and contains some programs that are used by the agents (the programs
are only on this map room pc). Although the agents have their own printers,
they use the map room printer because it is the company's paper, ink jet
cartridge, etc. I want to be able to set up the map room computer to monitor
each employee's printing on that single computer.

To recap, I am not monitoring each agents office printer on the network, but
just the one map room printer, but need to log each user who uses it to
print. (One idea was to set up each employee as a user and require them to
log off their username after each session, but not sure if that would work).

Can I configure the recommended or any other software to do that? Or is
there another solution for this particular need?

OK, you can monitor print jobs, started locally from "map room computer" and
from other computers, which prints using printer on "map room computer".

It is correct idea and it will work. It is necessary to create the user for
each agent on this computer and they should log in into system using the
own login. Of course, it should be Windows NT+
Otherwise how to distinguish, who has sent the task for a printing?

You can use Print Logger software for this need. And you can count up
expenses for a printing and setup quotas for printer or per user(s).

Hi,

I got a problem with printing after admi updated the machines ,some times
when I print some thing (most of them webpages) The default refuse to work
and stuck there for long time or failed and gave error.
Some times when I print something, it does't respond. It seems that the
printing command disappears without giving any information.

Because I printed soemthing important today, the printer is like "no
response". And I 'm not sure if I did send my printing to B123.Because there
are so many printers connected to the net so there is a chance that I sent my
printing to some other printers. I'm afraid I print my important information
to a remote printer and some body else can access my printing and I my self
don't even know.

I want to know if there is a way to track all your printing tasks happened
today to to figure out where is my printing going even though there is no
response?

Thanks for any suggestions.
