How can I print the list of files and folders displayed
in a window? For example when I open a folder the files
are listed with their names, size, type and date
modified. I would like to be able to save this listing in
a MS word file for printing at a later time. The reason
why I would like to do this is because when I record a CD
I would like to be able to enclose a paper listing of
what is on the CD in the jewel case for the CD.

You could always save it as an image.
Hit the 'print screen" key.
Open paint and select paste (ctrl-v)

Save it as a file type of your choice.

Thanks Dave

I was hoping there would be a more direct way -
especially when there is a long listing of files because
it will take numerous print screen and paste iterations.
Plus you get a lot of extranneous info that needs to be
cropped out afterwards. But if that is the only way to do
it then I have no choice but to settle for it. You would
think that this capability would be a basic feature in
windows.....oh well

Piece of cake, David. Download the free Directory Printer program
(PWDirPrn) at http://content.techweb.com/winmag/software/toolkit.htm

Works fine and I use it for my MP3 CD playlists.

I save it as a text file then open it in Word and edit it further if I wish.
I choose the font size and use 2 columns so my whole CD list of songs will
fit on one standard size sheet of paper.

Hi David,

Click [Start] [Run] [Cmd]
Goto the appropriate directory.
Type "Dir /b >list.txt"
[include "/s" for sub-directories listing]

Open List.txt in notepad and print the contents.

Greetings --

From the command prompt (Start > Run > Cmd.exe), simply change to
the desired directory and type "dir > filelist.txt" or "dir > lpt1,"
just as you used to do in DOS. Any of the switches for the DIR
command (type "dir /?") will work with this command, if you wish to
modify the output. You can then subsequently edit the resulting text
file using NotePad, WordPad, Word, etc.
