I have a powerpoint presenation (XP) that I have to open
as read-only as I don't have the passwords. Why can't I
print this presenation, I don't get any errors and the
printing dialog does not display. In fact nothing happens
at all. Is this working by design or is this a bug?

That's by design. If the presentation has been password protected, printing
is also disabled.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello Julie,

It should be printing (even though no dialog appears). We changed this
behavior in PowerPoint 2003 (the dialog appears), but in PowerPoint 2002
(the first version of Windows PowerPoint with password protection) the
print command is disabled but no dialog appears when chosen (it just
prints).
